Roy A. Regis

SMETHPORT- Roy A. Regis, 77, of Emerald Isle, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2023) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

     Born March 17, 1946, in Olean, NY, he was a son of Virgil E. and Beatrice Bova Regis.  On June 25, 1966, in Olean, NY, he married Dorothy M. Klampt, who survives.  They were married 57 years.

    Roy was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School, class of 1965.

     He had first worked for Minard Run Oil Co., Bradford, then as a salesman for Todd-Dodge of Smethport, for several years, and most recently Bauchard Dodge of Bradford, before retiring.

     He was a member of F.& A.M. Lodge 555, Duke Center, former member of the Smethport Boro Council, and longtime member of the Smethport Country Club. He was also a member of the former Duke Center Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, hunting & fishing, playing games on his computer, and was an avid storyteller.

    Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorthy, is a son, Troy E. (Bonnie) Regis of Duke Center; two daughters, Christina M. “Crissy” (Todd) Downey of Rixford, Shannon L. (Chris) Whitaker of Baton Rouge, LA; 7 grandchildren: Chelsea (Andy) Eliason, Kortney Regis, Hailea Regis, Whitney (Brandon) Maneval,  Brooke (Kevin) Lord, Summer Silvis, and Oliver Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Nola Fox of Duke Center, Virginia (Tom) McDaniel of Kansas, and Rita Heidrich of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donald Regis.

     A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 2-3 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 8, 2023) at the Smethport Country Club, where a celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Richard Price, officiating.

     There will be refreshments & snacks, along with sharing of memories afterwards.

     Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. 

      Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
