Nancy L. Thomas

TURTLEPOINT- Nancy L. Thomas, 74, of Route 155, passed away Sunday (May 22, 2022) in the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.

     Born March 24, 1948, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of James L. and Edna B. Safford Lilly.   On June 27, 1969, in Port Allegany, she married Dennis C. Thomas, who survives.

     Nancy had worked with Sylvania Co. (now GTE), formerly of Emporium, managed Thomas Trucking while raising her family, and later retiring from Smethport Specialties. 

     She was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1966.

    She attended both the First Presbyterian and First Baptist Churches of Port Allegany. 

     Nancy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 6391, and Moose Lodge 460, both of Port Allegany.

     Surviving in addition to her husband,  Dennis, are two sons, Chris C. (Genell) Thomas of Port Allegany, Errick J. (Jackie) Thomas of Turtlepoint; two daughters, Michelle D. (Brian) Causer of Turtlepoint, Victoria L. Herzog of Port Allegany; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet M. Lilly of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.  

      She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Janice A. Lilly.

      At Nancy’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  

      A celebration of life will be held later at a time and place to be announced. 

     Memorials can be made to the VFW Post 6391, or the Moose Lodge 460, both of Port Allegany.

      Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
