James D. Nellis

TURTLEPOINT- James D. Nellis, 69, of Route 155, passed away Sunday (Jan. 9, 2022) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

     Born August 13, 1952, in Richland, WA, he was a son of Kenneth V. and Emma J. Clark Nellis.  On Apr. 18, 1982, in Jamestown, NY, he married Judith A. Head, who died July 31, 2016.  

     James was a self-employed truck driver for many years, before his retirement. 

     He enjoyed his backyard fires with his dog, Diesel, a cold beer, and good friends. 

     Surviving are three sons, William D. (Tammy) Waid of Big Spring, TX, David S. (Audrey) Waid of Las Vegas, NV, Jared M. (Amanda) Nellis of New Caney TX; three daughters, Jami L. (Bobby) Smith of Mt. Jewett, Jody L. (Roger) Brown of Martinsburg, WV, Janell Nellis of Spendora, TX; several grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth V. Nellis, Jr. and Randy (Marie) Munday both of Jamestown, NY, Clifford (Marie) Mikula of Clymer, NY; two sisters, Margaret J. Garrison of Palmetto, FL, Sandy (Roger) Golden of Jamestown. NY; and several nieces and nephews. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Judith. 

     Friends will be received from 11 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 15, 2022) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.

     Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
