  SMETHPORT- Carolyn C. Spencer, 84, passed away Friday (Sept. 3, 2021) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
      Born August 23. 1937, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Lewis and Catherine Baker Southard.  On July 16, 1960, in Rixford, PA, she married Henry N. Spencer, who died Feb. 11. 2019. They were married 58 years.
      Carolyn was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School, class of 1955.
      She first worked for Dresser Manufacturing Co., Bradford, and later in the Smethport Area High School cafeteria, before her retirement.
      She was a member of the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, where she was a choir member, and was often a soloist. She loved music playing both the piano and accordion. She was an avid gardener and animal lover. Carolyn also enjoyed bird watching and
spending time with many of her daughter’s friends.
     Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Arnie) Scher of Pocomoko, MD, Christie (Kevin) Drabert of Smethport; three brothers, Gary (Sharon) Southard, and Dale Southard both of Eldred, and David (Bobbea) Southard of Rixford; a sister, Ella Mae Oliver of Rixford; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
       She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry, and a brother, Robert Southard.
       Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 5, 2021) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, officiating.  Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lewis Run, PA.
