Carolyn K. Shores

PORT ALLEGANY- Carolyn K. Shores, 83, 45 Sartwell Creek Rd., passed away Sunday (Nov. 14, 2021) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

     Born March 17, 1938 in Rew, PA, she was a daughter of Ward A. and Pansy Lawton Swift.  On May 5, 1956, in Duke Center, she married Richard A. Burrell, who died October 1977.  On Dec. 9, 1978, in Duke Center, she married Emery D. Shores, who died Apr. 7, 2018. 

      Carolyn worked the family farm for many years and most recently, was a waitress-cook with the ABC Restaurant, Burtville, before her retirement. 

     She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, and the American Assoc. of Retired Persons. 

      Carolyn loved her dog, Malachi, and watching birds at her back window. She also enjoyed crafting.

      Surviving is a daughter, Judy A. Burrell of Port Allegany; a son, John R. (Amanda) Burrell of Ararat, NC; three grandsons: Brandon J.(Shannon) , Alex L., and Connor M. Burrell; a brother, Ward A. Swift, Jr. of Litiz, PA; a sister, Joan E. Edwards of Magnolia, TX; and several nieces and nephews.  

     She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard and Emery, and two sisters, Connie Lou Brenan and Shirley Jane Swift. 

     At Carolyn’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.  

     Memorials can be made to the Sartwell Creek Union Church.

     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
