Charles E. Guncheon
      PORT ALLEGANY- Charles E. Guncheon, 70, of Katherine St., passed away unexpectedly Friday (Aug. 31, 2018) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
     Born January 29, 1948, in Port Allegany, he was a son of George E. and Mildred A. Murphy Guncheon.  On Aug. 12, 1972, in Clark, PA, he married Evelyn J. Fleet, who survives.
     Charles was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1966.  He was employed with North Penn Gas Co. (now UGI Central PA Gas, Inc.) for 40 years, before his retirement.
     Mr. Guncheon was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Port Allegany, where he was a trustee and usher for many years.  He was a life member & president of the Star Hose Co., Port Allegany, member and one of the original drivers with the Port Area Ambulance Service, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and was a former secretary of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. & Joiners of America, Local 2799.
     Surviving in addition to his wife, Evelyn, are a son, Matthew C. (Jennifer) Guncheon of Rockingham, NC; a daughter, Laura E. (Derek Zawacki) of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
     Friends will be received from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2018) in the Evangelical Covenant Church, with Rev. J.T. Madison, pastor and Rev. Matthew Guncheon, son, co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
     Memorials can be made to the Evangelical Church, Star Hose Co., or the Port Area Ambulance Service.
